Fairfax, Virginia – Fairfax Water will celebrate its 60th anniversary during a private event at the Frederick P. Griffith Jr. Water Treatment Plant, September 27, 2017. Attendees will include prominent members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, local and state representatives and delegates and distinguished members of the local community.
The event will honor Fairfax Water’s historic accomplishments in the community and highlight exciting new initiatives for the future such as the planned 17-billion-gallon reservoir being constructed as part of Vulcan Materials Company’s ongoing quarrying operations in Lorton, Virginia. Additional events will include a groundbreaking ceremony for the future reservoir and the sealing of a time capsule to be opened in 2085, when quarrying activities will be completed and the reservoir is officially dedicated.
