Project

Chain Bridge Pump Station

Chain Bridge Pump Station

This project consists of piping modifications to improve pressure zones and water transmission capacity within the service area via the Washington Aqueduct water source.  Modifications include construction of approximately 800 feet of 30-inch and 42-inch diameter water main, installation of new water flow meters, and interior pump station improvements.  Construction limits are within Dolley Madison Boulevard and driveway of Fairfax Water’s Chain Bridge Pump Station, near the intersection of Kirby Road, as shown on the map above.

The new water main in Dolley Madison Boulevard will be located within Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) right-of-way.  During construction, traffic will be maintained in both directions in Dolley Madison Boulevard at all times, although temporary lane closures and night work will occasionally be required.  Work hours on Dolley Madison Boulevard will be limited to 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday and 9:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday.  Night work, when required, will take place during the hours of 9:00 pm to 5:00 am, Monday through Friday.  Construction of the project will last for approximately five (5) months.
