OUTREACH PROGRAM
Summary of Fiscal Year 2010 Grant Awards
Fairfax Water
offers congratulations to the following organizations and homeowners
who were awarded grants in 2010:

The
Environmental Studies on the Piedmont received a grant to
educate middle and high school students on the value and
techniques of watershed stewardship through hands-on monitoring
of water quality including development planning, vegetative
stream buffers and wetland ecosystem services.

The Friends of
the Occoquan were awarded a grant to support volunteer clean-up
activities on the Occoquan Reservoir, including installing
bi-lingual watershed educational signs.

The Fairfax
County Park Foundation was awarded a grant to buy equipment
which will support source water educational programs at the
Hidden Pond Nature Center.
-
Two homeowners
were awarded grants to help stabilize the shoreline of the
Occoquan Reservoir against erosion.
-
The Potomac
Conservancy was awarded a grant to support their program to
collect native hardwood and shrub seeds that are used to plant
trees along streams.
