As part of Fairfax Water’s program to continually improve its water service, we are planning to replace the existing cast iron water mains located within Route 1 and Fordson Road, between Woodlawn Trail and Spring Drive, as depicted on the sketch below. The existing water mains, installed many years ago, will be replaced with a water main made from stronger, longer lasting materials which will not be as susceptible to water main breaks.

The majority of the proposed water main will be constructed within the Service Road on the west side of Route 1 and outside of Route 1 pavement. Disruption to travel lanes on Route 1 will be minimized.
