To ensure a safe, continuous and reliable
drinking water supply, Fairfax Water is increasing the amount of
water stored in the distribution system. Construction of the
proposed storage tank is part of a multi-million dollar
investment being made by Fairfax Water to increase system
reliability.
With a capacity of 5.5-million gallons, this new water storage
tank will be located adjacent to the existing elevated storage
tank on West Ox Road in the Penderwood area.
Storage tank construction is estimated to take approximately
18-months. Construction activity will be restricted to normal
working hours. The impact to traffic flow on West Ox Road is
expected to be minimal. Every effort will be made to minimize
dust, silt and environmental impacts during construction. When
the project is complete, all disturbed unpaved areas will be
graded and seeded and paved areas impacted by the construction
will be repaved to meet Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)
standards.
