Fairfax Water Consolidates Water Rates Ahead of Agreed Schedule
Fairfax Water’s Board of Directors voted May 21st, 2015 to equalize water rates for customers previously served by the City of Fairfax
and City of Falls Church water systems with the rates of Fairfax Water legacy-system customers. Last January Fairfax Water
acquired the Cities’ systems with the promise to lower the rates to Fairfax Water legacy-system rates within 2 years for the
City of Falls Church and 3 years for the City of Fairfax. Yesterday’s vote made that happen 6 and 18 months ahead of
Efforts over the last year-and-a-half to fully integrate these systems
and capture efficiencies and economies of scale have been successful to the point that rate equalization was accelerated and
former City customers will enjoy the lower water commodity rate beginning with meter readings taken on or after July 1, 2015. Therefore, all Fairfax Water customers will be on the same rate schedule.
This results in 20 to 40% savings on the water portion of
a quarterly bill for customers previously served by the Cities.
